Yoga at home, golden rules to respe
Give space to your practice
Having a space devoted to yoga can help you. By practicing
every day in the same place, you will be more attentive to changes that occur,
for example to variations in brightness over the seasons. Devoting a specific
space to yoga is a form of commitment, you literally make it a place in your
life. Any place may be suitable. "
Big, small, whatever, "
according to Jagatjoti S. Khalsa, author of Altar Your Space .
Respect your schedule
Decide on the length of your session and hold on.
" Even if you start reluctantly,
you'll realize that 15 minutes are quickly gone and you'll probably want to do
more, " says Sarah Powers.
Make it simple
Finally ready? Ask yourself before you start what parts of
your body need this session. Your hips claim opening postures? Your shoulders
would like to be stretched? Your back longs for the need for front and back
bends? For this, nothing better than to familiarize yourself with postures -
standing poses, forward bending, twists, back bends, inverted postures - to
compose your very personal sequence. If you suffer from hips and tight
shoulders from sitting in front of your computer, do four hip opening postures,
four shoulder opening postures, and a few twists (see section 3, starting on
page 3). 31, to concoct the session you need).
Before starting your session, plan which postures or
sequences to work on. To help you, refer to the 22 sequences imagined by
experienced teachers: morning practices, relaxing, toning or relieving chronic
pain.
How to ruin your session?
By being distracted. Do not leave your smartphone next to
the carpet, you may be watching for messages that arrive. You will quickly be
tempted to consult them in full posture of the Cobra, certain that it will only
take you a second. If you interrupt to answer an e-mail, chances are that you
will answer a second one, and, one by one, you will interrupt your practice by
swearing to resume the next day.
By being lax. If you wait to be in the right state of mind
to unwind your rug, you may wait a long time, especially if you are very busy.
You follow your intuition, which is a good thing, but if you do not observe a
minimum of discipline there is little chance that you come to practice
regularly. Do not wait until you really need your yoga session to get started!
In procrastination. You know that you have to do yoga on a
given schedule but you have other priorities. You have to finish a job, you
have a little hollow, your favorite series has just been posted on Netflix: you
will always find a good excuse. Rather, make your yoga session your best ally
to postpone everything else.
Losing the pace. This is the logical continuation of the
previous steps. You say to yourself, "
I missed yesterday, so it does not matter if I postpone today ." And a cycle that can last several
weeks or even months is set up. The sooner you get back on your yoga mat, the
faster you'll find your rhythm.
Looking for inspiration where she is not really. Reading an
article about another person's practice will never equate to doing yoga yourself.
You can feed yourself from the experience of others but nothing will replace
yours, on your carpet to you.
